About Allan Burch
I began drawing at an early age as a way of personally connecting with the interesting things around me. I knew my career path should then lead toward illustration, so I followed it from Iowa State University to the Kansas City Art Institute, where I earned my BFA.
Melding visual influences that range from the traditions of the Impressionist Masters to the eccentricities of pop culture, I bring a colorful marriage of classic and contemporary to my art — reflected in flowing, energetic textures, an expressive use of color, and a thoughtful and clever approach to storytelling.
Home is somewhere over Bull Shoals Lake, in southern Missouri, where I intermittently enjoy weight training, writing, taking occasionally in-focus photographs, and attempting to record another hole-in-one.
